Marrakech
We have lots of destinations for one day trips from Marrakech. Here you will find a few we highly recommend.

-
We use 4x4 vehicles seating up to five passengers comfortably. We recommend a mini bus for larger groups. You’ll be exploring your destination on foot.
-
Ask us about camel treks in the Agafay desert near Marrakech, or going to Chefchaouen from Fez.
-
During high season over Christmas and New Years our English speaking drivers may not be available for one day trips due to the high demand for longer tours.
-
Price is a base price for the vehicle, fuel, and driver guide, split between how many explorers join the tour.

High Atlas Villages
Imlil is just 1.5 hours from Marrakech at the end of the road in the High Atlas mountain range. You can hike up to the old kasbah for the best view of Mt. Toubkal, the highest mountain in North Africa. Or explore surrounding trails that radiate from the town center. Along the road you can visit the Asni Berber market on Saturday mornings. This region is especially pleasant in October when the whole valley smells of apples and clear skies make great walking weather.
There are numerous local eateries to sample a tagine, and many small shops selling Berber handcrafts made locally.
Not recommended in winter due to snow and cold December to February.

Ouzoud Waterfalls
North and east of Marrakech in the Middle Atlas mountains lies a village nestled in a charming valley. Visitors come here to walk around the dramatic cascades that tumble into a spectacular red gorge. This is a great place to come if it's raining, when the falls flow at maximum capacity.

Immerse yourself here in forest greenery, home to Barbary apes and colorful birds such as the roller and the bee eater.

After lunch beside the falls, upriver ancient olive groves and garden trails are perfect for exploring further. Or just relax with a glass of wine on a sunny riad terrace overlooking the waterfalls.

This day involves walking on high cliffside trails and numerous stairs. Return to Marrakech in the evening.

Salt Mines
World Heritage Sites
Berber History
& Kasbahs
This is certainly a full day and the most popular trip we offer – High Atlas salt mines, spectacular mountain passes, Berber villages and historic kasbahs – following the old camel caravan route that traveled from Sahara to Marrakech.
At the height of the mountain pass we'll depart the main road towards Telouet and look inside the old Glaoui kasbah. This once beautiful and strategically important kasbah now crumbles to ruins because no one wants to remember “the vulture” ruler who lived here until the 1950’s.

Back in the car you’ll follow the Valley of the Kasbahs to Ait Benhaddou world heritage site. The village is a classic example of mud and straw fortress that appears as a backdrop in countless films. In its day it was the most important fortress stronghold where caravans passed bringing slaves, gold, ivory and salt from Africa to Marrakech and beyond.

Overnight stays can be arranged at Ait Ben Haddou.

Pirate Haunts, Goats in Trees & Beaches
On the Atlantic coast lies the old pirate haunt of Mogador where Portuguese ramparts still guard the city walls. Once a place to be feared, Essaouira is now one of the most loved towns in Morocco. A wide sandy beach stretches south where you can wander or go for a swim in the warm bay. Famous for freshly caught seafood, thuja wood crafts and artists colony, craftsmen, carvers and painters can be found working in the most charming medina in Morocco.

A visit to a traditional pharmacies offers lessons in natural medicine. It's always fun to stop along the road where goats climb Argan trees to eat the nuts.
Visit in winter to enjoy the moderate warm climate, or in summer to cool off from the heat in Marrakech.

Overnight stays can be arranged.

Riverside Cafes & Local Berber Markets
A pleasant day and short drive from Marrakech can be spent in the pretty High Atlas villages of Ourika and Setti Fatma. Visit the Sunday local market or the Monday market in Ourika to see artisans manufacturing handicrafts such as colored glass and metal lanterns, hand painted wood furniture, wicker terrace furnishings and High Atlas village style hand woven carpets.

There’s a nice walk above Setti Fatma to a series of small waterfalls. A taste of Berber village fare is waiting at riverside cafes. Recommended year round, especially in spring and fall.
